Daily Devotional October 19, 2026: Your Labour Is Not in Vain
Today’s Scripture: 1 Corinthians 15:58
“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.”
When Effort Feels Unnoticed
Some Mondays you start work wondering whether any of it matters. You prepare, serve, teach, cook, clean, sell or study, and no one says thank you. Paul ends one of his greatest chapters on resurrection with a very practical word for tired people: keep going, because God sees.
What the Verse Teaches
Be Steadfast and Unmoveable
Paul does not ask for dramatic bursts of energy. He asks for steadiness. Faith shows in showing up faithfully when the week feels ordinary.
Abound in the Work of the Lord
“The work of the Lord” is not limited to church activity. When we do honest work for God’s glory, an ordinary workplace becomes a place of service.
Nothing Done in the Lord Is Wasted
“Your labour is not in vain” is a promise. Results may be slow or unseen, but God never overlooks faithful effort.
Reflection Questions
- Where have I been tempted to give up because no one noticed?
- How can I do today’s work as an offering to God?
- Who around me needs encouragement for their quiet labour?
Today’s Action Step
Pick the one task you are most tempted to rush or avoid today. Pray over it, then do it with full effort as an offering to God. Send a thank-you message to someone whose work often goes unseen.
Closing Prayer
Father, thank You that no work done for You is wasted. Make me steady, faithful and cheerful in my work this week. Let my labour honour You. Amen.
